Jihad Albayyari
Jihad Albayyari is an Associate Professor of mechanical engineering in the Industrial Technology Department. His AS-L work includes MFG 111: Materials. This class will introduce students to the major categories of engineering materials, and provide them the opportunity to meet class objectives through an active participation with the community.

Louise Jones
Louise Jones is a professor in the Interior Design Program in the College of Health and Human Services. Her teaching includes undergraduate and graduate coursework that addresses the design process, universal design, sustainable/green design, and research methods. Current research focuses on design studio setting, providing students an opportunity to meet course objectives through action research, working with a client in the local community to solve a design problem. Her AS-L work will include IDE 220: Interior Design Studio IV.

Melissa Motschall
Melissa Motschall is an Associate Professor of public relations in the Department of English Language and Literature. She teaches courses such as introduction to public relations, public relations writing and advanced public relations. Her AS-L work includes JRNL 314: Writing for Public Relations. In this course, students will have the opportunity to learn about the role of public relations in meeting community needs through their direct participation in service organizations.

Alexandria Oakes
Alexandria Oakes is a professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy. Her interests have included theoretical studies in musical acoustics with several Master’s students, development of an eclectic approach to teaching physical principles as applied to music, art, and dance; development of laboratories for undergraduate major courses in materials and the nuclear physics course, and public lectures at Cranbrooke Institute and Henry Ford Museum; as well as actively participating in the future departmental goal of acquiring ABET status for the Engineering Physics Program. Her AS-L work includes PHY 230: Engineering Dynamics. In this class, students will have the opportunity to fulfill class objectives through an active participation with the community, and by meeting a local community need.

Kathlyn Parker
Kathlyn Parker is an Assistant Professor of mental impairment in the Department of Special Education. Her research interests include social skills training and interpersonal problem solving for individuals with cognitive impairments. Her AS-L work includes SPMI 350: Introduction to Mental Retardation. Students will meet course objectives by engaging socially with an adult with developmental disabilities in hope of becoming advocates for individuals with disabilities.

Barry Pyle
Barry Pyle is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science with areas of concentration in Public Law and Public Policy. His AS-L will include PLSC 112: Introduction to American Politics and PLSC 210: Introduction to Political Analysis. In these courses, he will provide students an opportunity to meet course objects, as well as increase their civic mindedness, through active participation with the community.
