Jill Dieterle
Jill Dieterle is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy. She received her B.S. in philosophy from EMU and her M.A. and Ph.D. in philosophy from Ohio State University. Research interests are in philosophy of mathematics, metaphysics, and gender studies.

Dieterle plans to incorporate academic service-learning into her course PHIL/WMST 226: Philosophy of Women. In this course students will be required to participate in some form of community service that is tied to the course content and objectives. The class will be divided into six separate groups. Each group will provide service to a community agency that deals with issues that are important to women.

Zafar Khan
Zafar Khan is a professor in the Department of Accounting. He is interested in implementing academic service-learning in his "Advanced Management Accounting" and "Strategic Cost Management" courses.

Kay Woodiel
Donna K. Woodiel is the Program Coordinator for Health Education in the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Her special interests include "Psychopathial Aspects of Health," "Women's Health," and "Child and Adolescent Health Risk Behaviors."

Woodiel plans to use academic service-learning with HLED 380, Psychosocial Concepts of Health Education. The class explores 4 of the 6 dimensions of health including; mental/intellectual, emotional psychological, social and spiritual.

In fact, the class is a 2 credit course, but for the winter term 2002 (the next time it will be offered), it will be offered as a Special Topics, increased to 3 hours and titled Psychosocial Health and Service Learning.

Possible community projects include
- St. Joseph Mercy Health System and the Health Exploration Station
- Community Faith Based organizations that gather items for families in need
- Health education programs for the elderly in area nursing homes
- Health education programs for Boy and Girl Scouts

Maureen McCormack
Maureen McCormack is a Social Foundations Professor in the Department of Teacher Education. McCormack hopes to incorporate academic service-learning into her course SOFD 328, Schools in a Multicultural Society.

Jessica Alexander
Jessica Alexander is an Assistant Professor of Theatre and Educational Drama. Her courses include: "Improvisation and Role Play," "Creative Drama," "Health and Social Education Performance," "Oral Interpretation," and "Educational Drama." She is the founder and director of the award-winning CloseUp Troupe.
